Oligarchy, how people are fucking retarded

At this point you probably haven't been able to escape the mess and controversy around the Omarchy foundation. The whole drama is filled with people having no clue what they are talking about, making up dumb excuses, and bitching about the foundation getting far more than Arch has gotten in the past decade.
This entire controversy seems completely ridiculous to me. Let's look at what @DHH actually did. He took $1m of his own money, told a bunch of his friends who also put in some of their own money and made it a non-profit foundation so that it has a bit of governance. THAT IS ALL IT IS.
The fact you have people crying this much over a few billionaires and millionaires putting a little money into a pool cause they have a preference for what operating system they wanna run on their computer is insane. What's next? Are people gonna cry cause some billionaire decides he wants to have a small data center at home full of GB300 so he can run local models?
This isn't public money, this isn't raised from public donations, this is a few people with money to burn wanting their own operating system. Stop crying!
Where the money goes
Where this gets more ridiculous is how the money is being spent. All of Omarchy is open source under an MIT license. Better yet, they are funding a bunch of developers of projects like Hyprland and Quickshell. There are no license changes, all that work stays open source. The thing people are crying about, "open source doesn't get as much funding as this", well that's what they are spending the money on. Funding devs of other big open source projects.
You wanna know why Arch isn't getting a whole bunch of this money? Cause they refused.
"They aren't building a distro!"
Now I can already see some people yelling, THEY AREN'T BUILDING A DISTRO!
Now yes, in the early days of Omarchy it was a glorified rice. And in many parts it still is, but it's become more than that.
They have their own modified version of the Linux kernel, they have their own packages, run their own mirrors, even custom open source apps that are built for Omarchy specifically. If they aren't a distro at this point then maybe CachyOS isn't either.
So look, can you disagree with the political views of DHH? Sure. Do you have to use Omarchy? No. But the outrage that we have seen over this is simply ridiculous.
What DHH is doing is bringing more visibility to desktop Linux, using his + his friends' money to fund some cool open source projects, and yeah he has a distro of his own that is now decently popular. CALM DOWN!
